About Us

Blount Library consists of three floors.  Books are located on the lower and upper floors.  The academic commons is on the main floor.

During the summer of 2024, library staff compressed the collection, in order to open up new usable space for classes and studying.  While only a few duplicate and damaged books were removed, the items you use are no longer located where they once were.  Click the tabs below for maps and basic descriptions of the contents of each of the three floors of the library building.

The floor on which you enter contains the circulation desk, the periodical section, the academic commons, and a large meeting space.  In the future, the corner shelving (lower-left corner of the map below - formerly the site of the reference section) will contain genealogy, local history, and works by faculty/staff/student authors.

The upper floor contains print materials (the Juvenile collection and Library of Congress call numbers beginning with A thru L), the archives, student study rooms, the testing center, open study space, and public restrooms.

The lower floor contains print materials with Library of Congress call numbers beginning with M thru Z, the small media room, and public restrooms.  In the near future, the former computer lab (lower-left corner of the map below) will be transformed into a media screening room.
