Blount Library provides digital access to numerous journals focused on Middle Eastern culture, history, policy, and politics, including those listed below.

When researching a particular topic, it is always best to use the search engine on the Library main page to find books and articles directly related to your topic.  However, when browsing for interesting material, feel free to click any of the titles below to be taken to specific journals focused on studies of the modern Middle East.

 

  • Arab Studies Quarterly
    • Established in 1979, by Professors Edward Said and Ibrahim Abu-Lughod, to be a platform for academic research to counter anti-Arab propaganda, Arab Studies Quarterly publishes scholarly essays on Arab culture, history, and institutions.

 

  • Journal of Middle East Women's Studies
    • A triannual peer-reviewed interdisciplinary journal which advances Middle East gender, sexuality, and women's studies. Published by Duke University Press, Averett has direct access to issues from 2005 to 2014.  (Submit an ILL request for any articles published after 2014.)

 

  • The Middle East Journal
    • A peer-reviewed, quarterly journal, The Middle East Journal explores the region's political and economic development, cultural and literary heritage, and ethnic and religious diversity.

 

  • Middle East Quarterly
    • Academic journal publishing studies, interviews, commentary, and reviews that tackle a wide range of contemporary concerns of the Middle Eastern affairs -- from politics to economics to culture.

 

  • Middle East Policy
    • A journal providing viewpoints on current issues impacting U.S. - Middle East policy.
