Citing sources is a core responsibility of any academic writer whether it is applied to a quotation or a paraphrase. Any person's writing and ideas are their own intellectual property and should be respected and protected. Students who use information derived from someone else's research and writing must give credit to the author by citing that work.
Cite the source for every idea, phrase, and statistic you use from the work of others.
If your instructor has provided a specific citation style, follow their instructions.
If you are allowed to choose your own citation style, select one format for the assignment and use it consistently throughout the paper.
